Just recently in the last few months I was praying really hard about going on a missions trip and i really thought that thats what i was going to do come spring break - but again here is another example of how God's plans are NOT my own ... long story short ... i am not longer going on the mission trip that i was planning on it and at first i was really bummed about it ... until recently when i realized that yeah i do have a mission ... a mission field right here at work ... please pray that i can be a witness to those in the kitchen !!!

Waiting on God ... Lesson #1
So last night my friend and i opened up God's word to read about what God has to say about waiting on him ... when looking at the passages that deal with "waiting on God" one of the first scriptures passages i look at is Isaiah 40:28-31
"Hast thou not known?
hast thou not heard,
that the everlasting God, the LORD,
the Creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth not, neither is weary?
there is no searching of his understanding.
He giveth power to the faint;
He giveth power to the faint;
and to them that have no might he increaseth strength.
Even the youths shall faint and be weary,
Even the youths shall faint and be weary,
and the young men shall utterly fall:
But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength;
But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength;
they shall mount up with wings as eagles;
they shall run, and not be weary;
and they shall walk, and not faint.
the word wait in this passage talks about a "stillness". "waiting on God" signifies "be silent" or "only be silent" before God. "Wait" sometimes means "to cease" or "to stop" whatever action may have been taking place.Sometimes in life we just need to stop in the busyness of life and be quiet and listen for the still small voice of our Savior talking to us. Prayer is not a one way communication but rather it must be two ways, there is a reason that we have two ears and one mouth. One thing that i have learned through studying this part of scripture is that during my personal prayer time, whether its public or private prayer, I need to take some time just to be quiet and listen for God's voice to speak to me. Prayer is just not about coming before a holy and just God to give him our prayer requests but to open our hearts up and confess our sins before our Father, so that we may have full and clear communion with Him.
Alot of people go to prayer full of desires that they want to be filled, but in Psalms 37:3 &4 two things must happen in order for our desires to be given to us. The first thing it says is to "Trust in the Lord" - this is not just "trusting" in God to save you, but its an everyday thing to deny self and trust Him for EVERYTHING. Trusting him does not mean that you worry about things and its not something that you just do one time and not do ever again ... but rather its a daily denial of self and recognizing Jesus as having Lordship in our lives, and seeking Him every single day. The second thing it says that you should do in order to obtain the desires of your heart is to "delight" in Him. What exactly does this mean to take delight in something? When i think about the word "delight" i think of a child on Christmas morning while opening his or her presents or a child eating ice cream and taking delight or joy in each and every bite, just like these examples we should be taking delight in our Savior and enjoying every aspect of who he is. When all is said and you are trusting in the Lord and Delighting yourself in Him, nothing else will matter and then and only then will He be the desire of your heart !!
Waiting on God ...
So i have been really struggling on waiting on God's timing lately in alot of areas in my life ... so a friend of mine challenged me to write a devotional on it that way not only would just study God's word but i would make challenging ways that it could impact my life and the people around me ... and at the same time ... i could truly have an idea of what it means to "wait on God's timing"
